    Description

This sale is for an antique Japanese crank telephone from the 1920 era.  Online sources indicate that this model with a Delville transmitter was exported to Japan and built there.  Western Electric had a joint venture company in Japan to make their equipment, which became NEC. The seller believes that the brass tag on the front of the base of the telephone (as pictured) could have a reference to the Japanese NEC logo. The receiver on this piece is in very good condition with slight tarnish.  The hand crank works properly and rings the bell inside the unit.  The seller believes that because the bell works, that the magneto may be functional. The top and the bottom of the base are wood and the middle section is metal painted with an imitation wood grain.  The area on the side near the hand crank has paint loss due to years of use. The base measures 8 1/2 inches in height, 7 inches in width and 4 1/2 inches in depth. This item weighs a little less than 8 pounds. Everything pictured is original to this phone. Study the pictures carefully as this piece will be disassembled as pictured for shipping to prevent damage to this unique item.  The seller has been unable to open the back to provide an interior picture of this piece. This item was purchased at a military show as part of a military collection.  This seller does not ship internationally. Study the pictures carefully as there are no returns.
